Adoption of a draft decree on plant protection 2022 |
the adopted draft decree No. 2.22.243 implementing certain provisions of Law 76.17 relating to the protection of plants.
Presented by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, this project took application of certain provisions of the aforementioned law, and aims to establish the methods of monitoring and control of the plant health of plants, plant products, and others at import, transit, and export, indicates a press release from the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, a government spokesperson.
It is also about the control of plant health in the production, planting, and circulation of plants and plant products, adding the same source.
The draft decree also includes provisions aimed, on the one hand, at designating the government authority in charge of Agriculture for the implementation, via decrees, of the measures to be taken to ensure the monitoring and control of the plant health, and on the other hand, to entrust the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) with the implementation of these measures, in accordance with the provisions of Article 2 of Law No. 25.08 establishing the said office.
The text also determines the categories to which the members of the phytosanitary policy must belong, sworn and commissioned by ONSSA, and who must have, when performing their duties, a professional card which must be carried in a visible manner, issued by the Director-General of the Office, according to the model set by the government authority responsible for Agriculture, the same source said.
