Thus, 31.2 million open accounts were identified at the level of central bank accounts at the end of December 2021, an increase of 5% compared to 2020, determines Bank Al-Maghrib, which has just published its statistics on bank accounts under the year 2021.
Current accounts cover more than 63% of open accounts (19.8 million) and checking accounts account for 30% (9.4 million), the same source indicates. These stats also show that 2.1 million accounts have not been active for at least a year, while 0.3% of open accounts (103,458) are denominated in foreign currencies, including 82% in euros.
