Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said he hopes Lionel Messi will finish his career 'with a Barcelona shirt'.
Messi left Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain last summer after 17 years in the Barcelona first team as the Catalan giants struggled with financial problems.
But Laporta hopes the 35-year-old can return to Barcelona before hanging up his boots.
"Messi's time at Barcelona didn't end the way we all wanted," he told the Spanish press during the team's pre-season tour of the United States.
"I think Barcelona owes a moral debt to Leo Messi. We would like the end of his career to happen in a Barcelona shirt, and he is praised on all fronts wherever he goes."
Laporta explained that 'nothing was discussed' with Messi, who still has one season left on his contract with PSG with an option for another year.
"It was a temporary end (for his career at Barcelona) because I think we will make this wish come true," he added.
