The Moroccan youth boxing team won 7 medals (2 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze) in the Fifth Arab Youth Boxing Championship, which was held at the Olympic Center in the Egyptian capital Cairo from 1 to 7 August, under the auspices of the Arab Boxing Federation.
Moroccan champion Slimane Samgouli won the gold medal in the 57-kg competition after defeating Algerian boxer Bouchakra Moataz in the final.
He added the second gold medal for Morocco, champion Karim Jafari, in the 71-kg category, at the expense of the Egyptian Mohamed Mabrouk.
Moroccan boxer Mounir Wali won the silver medal in the 51kg category after losing the final to Algerian boxer Kaidi Mohamed Fouad.
The four bronze medals were won by boxers Rahal Al-Murabit in the 54 kg weight, Moncef bin Abdullah in the 63 kg weight, Ahmed Badran in the 71 kg weight, and Omar Lanasri in the 92 kg weight.
In the general ranking, the Moroccan team ranked third, while the Egyptian team ranked first with 12 medals (8 gold, two silver, and two bronze).
The Arab Youth Boxing Championship witnessed the participation of 13 teams, namely Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, Palestine, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, and Yemen.
On the sidelines of the Arab Youth Boxing Championship, the Arab Boxing Federation held a meeting chaired by Youssef bin Ali Al-Kadhim, the president of the federation, during which, in particular, Moroccan Mourad Basbasi was chosen as head of the federation's activities and programs committee.
