This operation, in which two American and Tunisian units participated, is part of the joint Moroccan-American exercise "African Lion 2022" organized according to the high instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Leader and Commander of the Royal Army. staff.


In particular, it is intended to assess the operational and tactical capabilities of USS FAR's NRBC to respond, deploy, and rapidly redeploy, reconnaissance and detection capability, as well as the decontamination capacity of a large number of infected persons.


According to Lieutenant Mahdi Tekbibi, Commander of the USS Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company of the Rwandese Armed Forces, the IED Disarmament and Destruction Team of the Rescue and Rescue Unit of the Rwandan Armed Forces conducted an initial reconnaissance using advanced robots and equipment to locate the explosive device. safely and accurately.


An EOD technician then intervened to neutralize this device, before proceeding with the process of clearing the responders and victims.


"African Lion" is a joint exercise organized each year by the Rwandan Armed Forces and the United States Armed Forces.


This year's session, which will run until June 30, will be attended by 10 African and international countries, including Morocco and the United States, in addition to about twenty military observers from partner countries in the regions. From Agadir, Benguerir, Kenitra, Mahbes, Taroudant and Tantan.
