Brandy Button, of Plano, Texas, was cruising US Interstate 75 south in the high occupancy vehicle lane until she was suddenly pulled over by a police officer; He said that to drive in a lane reserved for vehicles that take up a lot of space, there should be more than one person in the car.

Mrs. Bouton said she didn't see the problem, she was 34 weeks pregnant. When the officer asked where the other passenger was, she pointed to her stomach, "My baby is there. It's a person." The officer said as Bouton recalled, that both people had to be "out of the body."

Bouton deftly pointed out the double standards with current Texas laws: is his unborn child considered a living person or not? She told the Dallas Morning News, "I was ignored by an officer when I mentioned it was a living child, from everything that's been going on with the Roe v. Wade flip. "

"I don't know why you don't see that," she told the officer. His explanation does not match that of the agent who gave him a $215 note.

The incident follows the Supreme Court's controversial decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last month. In Texas, all abortions are illegal. State lawmakers intend to further complicate reproductive care, in a bid to restrict the sending of abortion pills to Texas women and ban travel for out-of-state procedures.

Even before the Supreme Court's massive ruling, Texas had "the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation," according to The New York Times. In March, the Texas Supreme Court allowed the ban on abortions after six weeks to take effect.

Texas is one of nine states that have made abortion illegal, with a few exceptions. Yesterday, Indiana and Louisiana cracked down on abortion laws, limiting ways for women to have the procedure.

"I'm going to fight," Bouton told the Dallas Morning News. Her trial date and, coincidentally, her due date, is July 20.
