The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2022 recorded an increase of 7.2% compared to the same month in the previous year, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

The increase came as a result of an increase in the food products index by 10.6% and non-food products by 4.9%, HCP explains in a note related to the consumer price index for the month of June.
For non-food products, the differences range from a 0.2% increase in “health” to a 17.6% increase in “transportation,” says the same source.
On a monthly basis, CPI rose 0.5% in June. This discrepancy is the result of a rise in the food products index by 0.1% and 0.8% in the non-food products index.
The increases in food products observed between May and June 2022 relate mainly to “oils and fats” of 2.7%, “milk, cheese and eggs” (2.1%), “mineral water, refreshing drinks, fruits and vegetables” (0.8%), and “mineral water, refreshing drinks, fruits and vegetables” (0.8%), and the same source said, "Coffee, tea and cocoa" (0.4%).
The largest increases in the CPI were recorded in Meknes and Beni Mellal by 0.9%, in Casablanca and Marrakesh by 0.8%, in Tetouan and Laayoune by 0.7%, in Agadir and Oujda by 0.6%, and in Kenitra and Rabat. Guelmim averages 0.5%. On the other hand, a decrease of 0.7% was recorded in Fez.
Under these conditions, the core inflation index, which excludes products with volatile prices and products at general prices, would have increased by 0.8% in June 2022 compared to May 2022 and 6.4% compared to June 2021.
