The 2022 edition of the CWTS Leiden ranking,

published on June 22, consecrates Mohammed V University (UM5) in Rabat as the only Moroccan university to appear again in this ranking among the 1,030 universities from 69 countries, including 33 universities in Africa and 29 Arab universities.

In a press release, the UM5 of Rabat indicates that the CWTS Leiden Ranking, provides 2007 a ranking of the best universities in the world based on four types of research-related indicators, concerning the scientific impact of publications, international collaboration, open access publications, and gender approach in the authors of During this 2022 edition, the UM5 improved its position in these four indicators compared to the previous year, specifies the press release.


Adding that the data used for this classification come from the "Web of Science" international scientific database.



In this regard, the press release states that UM5 is the national leader in terms of publications indexed Web of Science, with 25% of the number of national publications. The countries with the highest number of universities on this list are China with 247 universities, followed by the United StatesStates of America (242), the United Kingdom (65), Japan (56), Germany (54), South Korea, and India (49), the statement concludes.
