At the end of its general assembly held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, the Moroccan Association of Capital Investors (AMIC) appointed a new board of directors that unanimously elected Hatem Ben Ahmed to the presidency

At the head of AMIC, Hatem bin Ahmed succeeds Tariq Hadi. The latter ended his presidency with these few words: “During this term, thanks to all the members of the Board of Directors, which has become a collegiate steering body, we have been able to enhance coordination and proximity with all stakeholders in our industry, making progress in all Structuring projects of our activity, engaging in a proactive approach towards institutional investors and structuring corporate communications aimed at promoting our high impact growth values.


Our great ambition is to make our country a stronghold of private equity in Africa. I remain enthusiastic within the new board and at the disposal of the new office led by my friend Hatem to achieve Such a wonderful challenge."


Hatem Ben Ahmed has specialized in private equity in Morocco and the African continent since 2008.


He is a managing partner and co-founder of Mediterranea Capital Partners, an African private equity firm managing €400 million. He is a member of the company's investment committee and represents it on several boards of directors in North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.


Hatem bin Ahmed will be assisted in his mission by a new office, which is an administrative body responsible for defining strategic options and overseeing their implementation. This office consists of Vice President and Treasurer: Basem Gao Hakimi, CEO of Alameda, and Khawla Randy, Investment Manager at Upline Investments. The other four principles are:


• Al-Tijari Capital Management, represented by Fouad Shagar, Chairman and CEO. • Azure for Innovation Management, represented by Tariq Hadi, the Managing Director, and CEO. • CDG Invest Growth, represented by Hassan Al-Azairi, CEO. Farid Bin Al-Fadeel, Assistant Director.


On the occasion of his appointment, Hatem bin Ahmed stated: “I would like to thank the members of the Board of Directors of AMIC for electing me as Chairman of our Association. It is a trust that honors and obliges me as well.


In fact, we live in a particularly complex economic period, and more than ever, private equity will have to play a role important besides Moroccan entrepreneurs. The role of our association is to promote our activity in the entire ecosystem and thus actively participate in the revitalization of our economy.


I sincerely believe that Morocco has all the assets to become a leader in the continent in terms of the proliferation of private equity and I will endeavor during my tenure to contribute to this.


I salute the wonderful work Which Tariq Hadi has done as President of AMIC over the past two years, which has enhanced AMIC’s influence with entrepreneurs, public authorities, corporate representative bodies, investors, and fund managers.”


 

As the new president, Hatem bin Ahmed plans to continue AMIC's efforts which, in nearly 20 years, have resulted in the support of more than 240 companies and the raising of almost 23.6 billion dirhams to positively finance businesses and infrastructure projects.
